Typical fountains use wind gauges to shut displays off during wind. Wind is a fact of the spring and summer climate in the American southwest, posing a constant irritation between object, user and the desire for adding water to most any environment. The Windless Fountain prototype utilizes cylinders of clear polycarbonate that are economically manufactured in China, as sleeves that protect fountain jets from the wind. Water remains within the clear cylinders forming columns of water that can co-exist with outdoor dining tables and intimate pedestrian spaces. LED fixtures transform the columns into light fixtures at night.
