Weather and environment are the central preoccupations for an 800-acre ranch. The arrival road sequentially presents a meadow, spring fed wetland, a wooded bluff and a plateau upon arriving to a house designed by Lionel Morrison. A half-mile axis – a traverse – is cut through the overlooking wetland terminating on an 80’ high stainless steel column that is positioned to deliberately attract lighting. From the bluff site of the house, to the weather connection made by lighting, the landscape and site planning of the estate roots the owners in the nature of the site and country setting.
