Fort Worth Glazer Building

A decommissioned warehouse for the Tarrant County Regional Water District is wrapped with a living façade of vines, creepers and perennials that is designed with a system of micromesh frames that repeats for economy. A microclimate is produced by the eight to ten foot interstitial space that protects the building from the sun and produces a vertical garden filled with migratory butterflies and hummingbirds, brought directly to office windows. The new prototype transforms the value of the building and by leaving the original building virtually untouched, the high cost of typical renovation techniques and permitting hurdles are avoided.
