Connecticut Estate

A proposal for a new residence on a Connecticut Estate merges the architecture with the site ecology. Building edges and landscape edges are handled reciprocally, suing both condition to define interior and exterior spaces that anchor the new residence to the landscape. The entrance drive follows a ridge and the edge of an existing woodland arriving dramatically when the house visually emerges from the woodland concealment.  Terraces at the back negotiate grade conditions and relate the principal residence to a pavilion that is positioned on the other side of a landscaped ravine and at the top of a hill.
